Fire Island Wellness was founded and formed in the summer and fall 2022.
It is a wellness clinic in Cherry Grove, New York, which is a hamlet located on Fire Island, a summer beach community. Cherry Grove, New York – Wikipedia.
Fire Island has a summer population of over 20,000 a season which lasts from May to September, but during the winter it shrinks down to less than 1000. Because of this dynamic, there are a few healthcare practices that service Fire Island.
Serpe Consulting’s founder felt that there was a need for physical therapy and massage therapy for the communities during the summer. Many people said that it would not work. Serpe believed that it could.
In August 2022 Serpe took a leap of faith and started with chair massages on a Tuesday afternoon. The rest is history. By the end of the summer, Fire Island Wellness was formed and the entity, physical therapy and chiropractic clients, averaging over 40 visits per week.
SCC also procured a commercial lease for the venture as a management company, a very difficult task for a community normally with zero vacancy.
FIW is preparing for summer 2023, adding physical therapy, acupuncture, as well as breath work, personal training and other health services.
